Automotive intercooler if you want to upgrade or install what matters need to pay attention to?

The purpose of installing an automotive intercooler is mainly to reduce the intake temperature. Perhaps readers will ask: Why do we need to reduce the intake temperature? This brings us to the principle of turbocharging. The working principle of turbocharging is simply that the exhaust gas of the engine is used to impact the exhaust blade, and then the intake blade on the other side is driven to forcibly compress the air and send it to the combustion chamber. Since the exhaust gas temperature is usually as high as 8 or 9 Baidu, the turbine body is also in an extremely high temperature, which will improve the temperature of the air flowing through the intake turbine end. In addition, the compressed air will also generate heat (because the compressed air molecules are smaller in distance, they will squeeze each other and friction to produce heat energy). If the hot gas enters the cylinder without cooling, it is easy to cause the engine combustion temperature to be too high, which will then make the gasoline pre-combustion knock and make the engine temperature rise further. At the same time, the volume of compressed air will also greatly reduce the oxygen content due to thermal expansion, so it will reduce the supercharging efficiency, naturally unable to produce the desired power output. In addition, high temperature is also the invisible killer of the engine, if you do not try to reduce the operating temperature, once in hot weather environment, or a long time of operation, it is easy to increase the probability of engine failure, so it is necessary to install an intercooler to reduce the intake temperature. After knowing the function of the intercooler, we will discuss its structure and why the heat dissipation principle.
The intercooler is mainly composed of two parts. The first part is called Tube, which is the first layer in the figure. Its function is to provide a channel for compressed air to flow through. Therefore, the Tube must be a confined space, so that the compressed air will not leak pressure. The second part is called Fin, commonly known as fin, which is usually located between the upper and lower layers of Tube and closely adhered to the Tube. Its function is to dissipate heat, because when compressed hot air flows through the Tube, heat will be transferred to the fin through the outer wall of the Tube. At this time, if there is air with low external temperature flowing through the fin, It takes the heat away and cools the intake temperature. Through the above two parts constantly overlapping together, until 10 ~ 20 layers of structure, is called Core, this part is the so-called main body of intercooler. In addition, in order to provide buffer and pressure storage space for the compressed gas from the turbine before entering the Core, and to increase the air flow rate after leaving the Core, a part named Tank is usually installed on both sides of the Core. Its appearance is like a funnel, and a circular inlet and outlet are also set on it to facilitate the connection of the silicone tube. The intercooler is composed of the above four parts. As for the heat dissipation principle of the intercooler, it is to use numerous transverse tubes to divide the compressed air, and then direct cold air from the outside of the head, and then pass through the heat dissipation fin connected with the Tube, to achieve the purpose of cooling the compressed air, so that the intake temperature is closer to the outside temperature. Therefore, to increase the heat dissipation efficiency of the intercooler, This can be achieved by increasing its area and thickness to increase the number of tubes, length and fins. But is it that easy? In fact, because the longer and larger the area of the intercooler, the easier it is to produce the problem of intake pressure loss, which is also one of the main problems discussed in this unit.
